Hello and welcome to Cub Scout Pack 4! We are a small cub scout pack located in Grass Valley. We always welcome new boys and girls in our pack so feel free to come check us out. If you are new to Scouting or looking for a new pack we would love for you to join us! Also, check out our facebook page, Pack 4 Grass Valley.
Cub Scouts are arranged into dens of boys or girls by grade in school. Boys and girls dens are separate. Kindergarten age children are in a Lions Den, First graders are Tigers, Second graders are Wolves, Third graders are Bears, and Fourth and Early Fifth graders are Webelos. Half way through fifth grade Webelos are eligible to bridge over to Scouts BSA, the program for 11 to 18 year-olds. Individual dens meet 1 to 3 times a month, based on family schedules and the age level. All dens and their families come together once a month as a Pack to present awards achieved, show off completed projects, present songs or skits, learn about upcoming events, and just enjoy fellowship with others. The Pack plans several Pack-wide events over the year. Our main program coincides with the school year, with Cub Camp and once a month Pack events over the summer.
We are not a program where you drop off your child as if at a day care center. We need parent involvement as leaders, assistants, committee members, etc. Some tasks are on-going, while others are short-term. If this sounds like a lot of effort, consider the studies that show a child with parents that are involved stay longer and achieve more from the program. It's also a chance to form relationships with other parents and families that last beyond the Cub Scout years.
